Eighteen people were killed when a bus carrying migrants, mostly Venezuelans, overturned on a highway in southern Mexico. The officers provided this information. The Civil Protection Coordination of Oaxaca state said Friday that the accident occurred on the highway connecting Oaxaca and the neighboring state of Puebla.
Initial reports said at least 18 people were killed and around 29 others were injured and are being treated in hospitals. Civil Protection Coordination said authorities had partially closed the road in both directions.
The passenger bus was carrying 55 migrants, Xinhua news agency reported. “We deeply regret the accident. Our government personnel are providing assistance to those affected,” Oaxaca Governor Salomon Jara said on the social media platform X.
