A five-year-old child lost his life in an incident where stones and debris suddenly fell from a hillside near Chirbasa.

A major incident occurred on the Kedarnath pilgrimage route on Sunday evening. A five-year-old child lost his life when rocks and debris suddenly fell from the hillside near Chirbasa. Following the incident, many pilgrims were stranded on the pedestrian route; rescue teams conducted an operation throughout the night to bring them to safety. During this time, approximately 1,500 pilgrims were safely guided across the affected stretch.
According to District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, the police control room had received a report of falling rocks in the Chirbasa area. Yash, the five-year-old son of Rohtash Yadav—a resident of Etah, Uttar Pradesh—died on the spot after being struck by the falling rocks.
Upon learning of the incident, the rescue team present at the site transported the child’s body via a palki (palanquin) to the Bhairav Temple at Jangalchatti.
The Kedarnath pedestrian route near Chirbasa had been obstructed due to the falling rocks and debris. Prioritizing the safety of the pilgrims, the deployed rescue teams immediately launched an operation. The effort continued late into the night, ensuring that stranded pilgrims were moved to safe locations.
Approximately 1,500 pilgrims were safely guided across the route during this overnight rescue operation.
