More than 2.12 lakh people across eight districts in Assam have been affected by floods. The death toll for the season has reached 80, while several rivers continue to flow above the danger mark.

The flood situation in Assam remains critical. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 212,441 people across eight districts have been affected by the floods. With two more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the total death toll from floods this year has risen to 80.
437 villages across 8 districts hit by floods
According to the ASDMA, the districts of Golaghat, Sivasagar, Biswanath, Charaideo, Kamrup (Metro), Jorhat, Dhemaji, and Nagaon are the worst affected. The impact of the floods has reached 437 villages across 21 revenue circles. Additionally, 17,198.09 hectares of crops have been damaged, adding to the farmers’ concerns.
Two more deaths in 24 hours; people sheltered in relief camps
The authority reported two deaths in Sivasagar district over the last 24 hours, bringing the season’s total flood-related death toll to 80. Twenty-one relief camps have been set up to shelter displaced families. The district administration is providing food, drinking water, and other essential amenities at these camps. Officials noted that floodwaters continue to affect some urban areas in the Kamrup Metropolitan district as well.
Several rivers in spate; advisory issued to stay away from Dhansiri River
Officials stated that water levels in several of the state’s rivers remain high, and the government and district administration are closely monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, the ASDMA issued a public advisory on Thursday night urging people to stay away from the Dhansiri (South) River, which flows near Numaligarh in Golaghat district. The authority warned that the river’s water level is steadily rising and advised people to avoid venturing near the river for safety reasons.
