At least eight people died after a bus caught fire following a collision on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district. More than 20 passengers were reported injured and were sent to the Dausa District Hospital for treatment.

Officials stated that a severe collision occurred between a bus and a truck on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway within the jurisdiction of the Kolwa police station in Dausa district. The impact was so intense that both vehicles caught fire immediately, causing chaos at the scene.

Police and fire department officials were informed of the incident. Upon receiving the news, fire tenders from Dausa and Bandikui rushed to the spot and began efforts to extinguish the flames. Meanwhile, police administration officials and teams arrived at the scene and engaged in relief and rescue operations.

It was reported that a tourist bus carrying approximately 37 pilgrims was traveling from Haridwar to Indore. While most passengers managed to escape when the fire broke out, some remained trapped inside the severely damaged vehicles and lost their lives. A total of eight fatalities were reported; 22 passengers sustained injuries, while four remained completely unharmed.

SP Piyush Dixit told IANS that the vehicle was a sleeper bus belonging to Hans Travels (Indore), while the truck was completely empty. Both vehicles were traveling on a straight stretch of the road. It is suspected that the collision occurred while another vehicle was attempting to overtake them.

He stated that six people died due to burns, while two others succumbed to head injuries. The condition of the remaining injured passengers is stable.

Congress MP Murarilal Meena visited the accident site on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. He told IANS, “I pray to God to grant peace to the souls of those who lost their lives and to give strength to their families.” He said, “According to the information received so far, eight people have died, several others are injured, and many are undergoing treatment at the Dausa District Hospital. To prevent such incidents in the future, the government should constitute a committee to study the causes of accidents occurring on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.”
