Bihar | 3 Station House Officers (SHOs) and a driver killed after car rams into a truck on NH-31 in Begusarai, India

They were returning to Madhepura district in the same vehicle after attending a one-day training session in Patna. Suddenly, the speeding car went out of control and rammed into the rear of a truck.

Four people died in a tragic road accident late Friday night in Bihar’s Begusarai district. The deceased included three Station House Officers (SHOs) from Madhepura district. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

Reports indicate that a speeding car rammed violently into the rear of a truck. The impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, with half of it becoming wedged into the back of the truck. The incident occurred near Bakhadda on NH-31, within the jurisdiction of the Sahebpur Kamal police station.

It is reported that there were four police personnel in the car, including three SHOs posted in Madhepura district. They were returning to Madhepura in the same vehicle after attending a one-day training session in Patna when the speeding car lost control and collided with the rear of the truck.

Chaos ensued at the scene following the incident. Upon receiving news of the accident, a large police contingent—including Begusarai SP Manish Kumar and Sadar DSP Anand Pandey—rushed to the site. The deceased have been identified as Sajan Paswan (SHO, Ratwara), Neeraj Kumar (SHO, Belari), Gyanendra Amrendra (SHO, Arar), and the private car driver, Jyotish Kumar.

Two SHOs (Gyanendra and Neeraj Kumar) and the driver died on the spot. Meanwhile, locals rushed the third SHO, Sajan Paswan, to Sadar Hospital in an injured state; he passed away shortly after while undergoing treatment. News of the deaths of these four individuals—including three police officers—sent shockwaves through the police department.

Begusarai Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Kumar stated that the accident occurred late at night. Four people—three police officers and a driver—died as a result. He noted that the incident took place around 12:30 AM.

He added that an investigation is underway, post-mortems are being conducted, and all legal procedures and protocols are being followed.
