हिमाचल प्रदेश: चंबा में पुखरी-मसरूंड मार्ग पर बोलेरो गाड़ी खाई में गिरी, सात लोगों की मौत
Another major accident has occurred in Himachal Pradesh. Seven people lost their lives in this incident in Chamba district, including three brothers.
According to reports, the incident took place on Wednesday night on the Pukhri-Masrund road in the Churah area of Chamba district. Near ‘Mani Zero,’ a Bolero vehicle lost control and plunged into a gorge approximately 500 meters deep, claiming the lives of seven people. The crash was so severe that the vehicle was mangled, and all seven occupants died on the spot. The accident reportedly occurred at 2:00 AM, resulting in the deaths of four men and three women. All the victims were from Kuthed village, and a pall of gloom has descended upon the village.
It is reported that the Bolero involved in the accident belonged to Mahal village in Kuthed Panchayat; the occupants were returning home after attending a Dham (traditional feast) following a Mundan (tonsure) ceremony in Kakrotha village. Upon receiving news of the incident, locals retrieved the bodies from the gorge, and the police subsequently arrived at the scene. It is being suggested that the absence of roadside crash barriers contributed to the tragedy; their presence might have prevented the accident. Chamba SP Vijay Saklani stated that all bodies have been recovered from the gorge, and the process of identifying the deceased is underway.
MLA Expresses Grief
Hans Raj, the MLA from Churah (Chamba), stated that he received information about the incident in the morning. He noted that the victims belonged to a family with an army background and were personal acquaintances of his. He highlighted the lack of crash barriers in the area as a major issue leading to such accidents. Six members of the same family were among the deceased. While the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, the MLA stated that he has alerted the police and hospital authorities.
Former CM Expresses Grief
Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur expressed deep distress over the horrific road accident that occurred near Chhatrund on the Masrund-Hamal road in the Churah assembly constituency of Chamba district. The news of the untimely deaths of seven people in this tragic accident is heart-wrenching. My condolences go out to the bereaved families. The victims include six members of a single family from Mehal village (under the Jandrah booth of Saprot Gram Panchayat) and one individual from Kuthed Gram Panchayat. I urge the district administration to immediately intensify relief and rescue operations and provide all possible assistance to the affected families. I pray to the Almighty to grant the departed souls a place at His holy feet and give the grieving families the strength to bear this devastating blow.
It is worth noting that Chamba has witnessed several major accidents recently. Prior to this, on May 31, an Innova vehicle met with an accident on the Bairagarh-Sach Pass-Killar road, resulting in the deaths of eight people. Additionally, two people lost their lives in a car accident in Chamba on June 17.
