Opposition parties have strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government following the murder of a woman and the abduction of her daughter in Meerut. The opposition alleged that Uttar Pradesh is being pushed into a state of lawlessness.
Congress leader Udit Raj wrote on the social media platform ‘X’ on Saturday, “In Kapsad village of Meerut, a Dalit woman left her home with her daughter to go to the fields. On the way, goons tried to kidnap the daughter. When the mother tried to stop them, they murdered her and abducted the daughter. Almost 48 hours have passed since this incident, but there is still no trace of them.”

Samajwadi Party leader Yogesh Verma, speaking to news agency IANS, said, “This incident is very painful and shocking. It has shaken the entire Dalit community of the district. Action must be taken against such a brutal act, and the government should teach the responsible individuals a lesson. This kind of anarchy must be stopped. By now, the administration should have reached the houses of the accused with bulldozers.”
According to Meerut police, criminals abducted a 20-year-old girl in Kapsad village of the district. During the incident, a 50-year-old woman tried to save her daughter, but the criminals attacked her with a sharp weapon. The woman later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The incident has sparked outrage in the area. Police have identified the accused as Paras Som and Sunil Kumar. Both are reportedly residents of the same village. Police are currently searching for the accused and the abducted girl.
