Heart-wrenching CCTV footage has emerged from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. In Habibpura area on Tuesday morning, a 4 year old child got electrocuted due to the water accumulated on the road. The entire incident was captured in CCTV camera. The child kept writhing on the road and passersby kept passing by.
Elderly man saved child’s life
One of the two elderly people passing by the road tried to take the child out of the water with the help of a towel, but he retreated due to the shock. The fellow elder caught the child with a stick and pulled him towards himself, which saved the child’s life.
How did the child get electrocuted?
Karthik, four-year-old son of local resident Jitendra Kumar, was playing in the water after the rain stopped. The electric pole near the house got electrocuted. In Habibpura, skirting boards were burnt by pulling wires illegally. The wire that was tied to the pole was cut. Due to rain there was water logging on the road. Due to this the current came into the water. As soon as the child reached the water to play, he got an electric shock and he fell into the water and started writhing there.
Welts were installed illegally
According to Neeraj Pandey, Electricity Distribution Division II, the electricians reached the spot and cut the illegally pulled wire. He told that the wire was drawn illegally to burn the skirting at the religious place. The officer said that a case will be registered against the culprits at Chetganj police station.
