Red alert for rain continues in Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri, while orange alert is issued in Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat. At the same time, in the midst of all this, the Uttarakhand Police has issued an advisory, appealing to the people to be careful, in which people have been asked to avoid doing adventure activities.
So far 10 people have lost their lives due to heavy rains
Due to heavy rains in Uttarakhand in the last 24 hours, about 10 people have lost their lives and dozens of people are injured. SDRF is continuously engaged in rescue operation. However, the people of Uttarakhand, who have been troubled for the last few days, are not going to get rid of the storm for the next 72 hours. From today, August 14, the Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for different areas of Uttarakhand.
Red alert for rain in Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri
There is a possibility of heavy rains in Dehradun, Tehri and Pauri districts, in view of which red alert is issued in these districts. Apart from these, heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat for which orange alert has been issued. There is also a possibility of rain in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Almora and Bageshwar, although a yellow alert has been issued here.
Landslide and rock fall forecast
Due to the rains in Haridwar, the water level of Ganga has increased due to which there is panic in the surrounding areas. People are being appealed by the administration not to go to the banks of the Ganges, so the administration in the state is on alert mode. There is a possibility of very heavy rain with thunder in the districts. Landslides and rock fall are also predicted at sensitive places, then there may be a sudden rise in the water level of the river drains and water-logging in the low-lying areas. In view of the alert, the Uttarakhand Police has appealed to the people to be careful. The police has issued an advisory that do not take shelter under trees during heavy rains. Go to a safe place, avoid doing adventure activities and do not take any kind of risk. Also keep checking the weather forecast.
Along with Uttarakhand, Bihar is also facing the wrath of water. There is a danger of flood in Sheohar. The Bagmati and Lalbakeya rivers are flowing above the red mark, inundating low-lying areas. Crops have been submerged in water, so people are facing problems even in eating and drinking. Undoubtedly, the monsoon is at its last stage, but this problem will have to be faced for a few more days.
