The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is worried about saving Mussoorie, a tourist destination in Uttarakhand. The expert committee constituted by NGT has recommended to the Uttarakhand government to control the number of tourists coming to Mussoorie. Along with this, the committee has suggested to collect registration fee from the tourists coming here and use this amount for waste management and cleanliness of the city.

Mussoorie, located on the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, falls in Zone IV in terms of earthquakes. In view of this, the report has suggested several preventive and remedial steps to prevent him from going on the route to Joshimath. It has also been suggested in the report not to remove boulders from the bottom of the mountains in landslide prone areas and to fill cracks appearing on the slopes.
