The bridge connecting Hemkund Sahib was damaged due to landslide in Govindghat, Chamoli this morning.

In Chamoli district, a hill suddenly broke near Govindghat on Wednesday morning, due to which the bridge connecting Hemkund Sahib was damaged. The threat of avalanche remains in Chamoli district. The Meteorological Department has indicated a change in the weather from March 8.
Earlier in Chamoli district, the weather was bad on Tuesday as well. Snowfall occurred in high altitude areas including Badrinath Dham, Hemkund Sahib while it rained in lower areas. Due to this, there is severe cold in the district. Although the weather became normal at 11 am and the sun shone, but the weather again turned bad in the late evening.
The maximum temperature in Badrinath Dham was minus eight and the minimum temperature was minus three, the maximum temperature in Jyotirmath was four and the minimum temperature was minus one, in Auli it was maximum three and minimum minus two. Due to the drop in temperature, people remained huddled in their homes throughout the day.
