Uttarakhand: An interim ban has been imposed on people from outside the state purchasing land for agriculture and horticulture purposes. This decision was taken in a high level meeting chaired by CM Pushkar Singh Dhami here till late evening. A government release issued here said that “On the orders of the CM, it has been decided in the interest of the state and public interest that till the time the report of the Land Law Committee is presented or till further orders, the District Magistrate will not allow people from outside the state to use land for agriculture and horticulture purposes.” Will not allow the proposal to purchase land from.
Earlier CM had given these relaxations
Earlier, before purchasing land in Uttarakhand, the CM had ordered to give permission to the buyer only after verifying his background. In the meeting held today, the CM ordered the officials to conduct a large-scale public hearing by the committee formed for land law and take the opinion of people and experts associated with different fields.
According to the amendment made in 2004 in Section 154 of the Zamindari and Land System Act 1950 in UP, such persons who are not holders of immovable property in Uttarakhand before September 12, 2003, are required to be given permission by the District Magistrate to purchase land for the purpose of agriculture and horticulture. Provision has been given.
New land law for Uttarakhand
At present, a drafting committee has been constituted by the state government to prepare a new land law for Uttarakhand. Giving orders to prepare the manuscript expeditiously, the CM said that all the decisions are being taken by the state government in the interest of Uttarakhand and as per the sentiments of the people of the state, the state government will continuously work for whatever is in the best interest of the state.
