उत्तराखंड: दीपावली से पहले उल्लुओं की जान पर आफत, वन विभाग ने जारी किया अलर्ट
The Forest Department has issued an alert before Diwali in the forests of Uttarakhand. Apart from the protected areas, an alert has been issued in the forest areas where owls are present. Patrolling has been intensified to keep an eye on the activity of smugglers. In Uttarakhand, before Diwali, smugglers’ attention increases on the forests. The demand for owls increases due to legends and superstitions. Smugglers go to hunt owls in the forests due to the greed of getting a huge price.
Actually, on Diwali, the price increases in the market due to Tantra-mantra with the owl’s organs. It is said that owl’s nails, eyes, beak and feathers are used for tantra-mantra. People also have superstition about proving Tantra Mantra on Amavasya night.
Owl is considered the vehicle of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. It is believed that Tantric rituals help in acquiring wealth. This is the reason that due to this superstition, smugglers become rich. They become active in the forests before Diwali.
Due to smugglers hunting owls, their species is now on the verge of extinction. Every year before Diwali the forest department comes into alert mode. This year also, in view of the same possibilities, apart from the reserve forest, an alert has been issued in various other forest areas also.
