Uttarakhand | Five women arrested in connection with Haldwani violence

Nainital SSP said that a total of 89 people have been arrested in connection with the incidents of stone pelting, arson and firing that took place on February 8 in Banbhulpura. SSP said that today 5 women Shahnaz, Soni, Shamsheer, Salma and Reshma have been arrested.

Uttarakhand Police on Friday arrested five women in connection with the violence that broke out in Banbhulpura area of Haldwani. With these, the total number of accused arrested in the Haldwani violence case has increased to 89. According to the police, Shehnaz (45), Soni (33), Shamsheer (25), Salma (50) and Reshma (45) have been arrested.

Police are continuously arresting miscreants in the Banbhulpura violence case. Even before this, the police has arrested many accused and also recovered weapons. The police had earlier put 84 miscreants, including mastermind Abdul Malik and his son Moeed Malik, behind bars.

Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police Prahlad Narayan Meena said that a total of 89 people have been arrested in connection with the incidents of stone pelting, arson and firing that took place in Banbhulpura on February 8. SSP said that five women Shahnaz, Soni, Shamsheer, Salma and Reshma were arrested on Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police said that all of them are residents of Banbhulpura area. Six people were killed and more than 100, including several policemen and journalists, were injured in the recent violence that broke out following the demolition of an illegal madrassa in Haldwani’s Banbhulpura area.
