Dehradun Police has recovered the Mercedes car involved in the ‘hit and run’ incident that took place in Rajpura Road area on Wednesday night. Four labourers were killed in this incident. Officials gave this information on Thursday.
Police said here on Thursday that during the intensive search and investigation campaign that went on overnight, the Mercedes car with Chandigarh registration number used in the accident was recovered from an empty plot in Sahastradhara area here.
After this accident near Uttaranchal Hospital, the driver who fled with the car from the spot is also being searched vigorously. Police said that after getting information that the car was bought from Delhi, a police team was sent to Delhi in the night itself to collect detailed information while another police team reached Chandigarh and got information about the vehicle owner. Police said that complete information about the owner of the vehicle has been obtained.
The car being driven at high speed had hit four labourers walking on foot due to which they jumped and fell far away and died on the spot. The car also hit a scooter nearby, injuring two persons riding on it.
The deceased have been identified as Mansharam (30) and Ranjeet (35), residents of Baba Bazar in Ayodhya district of Uttar Pradesh, Balkaran (40) from Jagjitpur in Barabanki and Durgesh from Faizabad. All the deceased were working with a contractor named Shivam and were living in Kathbangla river area.
The two persons riding the scooter–Dhaniram and Mohammed Shakib–suffered leg injuries and were admitted to hospital.
