During the monsoon, incidents of landslides and flash floods are happening continuously in Uttarakhand, due to which the lives of the people are in a bad state. Similarly, due to cloudburst in Dharchula of Pithoragarh, many villages lost contact with each other. The incident of cloudburst came to light late night in Teejam village located in Darma Valley of Dharchula tehsil, which created panic in the entire area.

The incident is being reported around 12 o’clock on Tuesday night. Due to cloudburst, the wooden bridge connecting Teejam village to the main area was washed away, due to which the village has completely lost contact. It is a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life so far.

However, since the cloudburst, the water level of the rivers has increased rapidly, due to which there is a possibility of danger in the surrounding villages as well. The villagers themselves made videos of the incident with their mobile phones and sent them to the administration, after which the administration came into action.

A villager told the situation there through the video. He said, “A bridge which was the main route for the villagers has been washed away for about half a kilometer. This bridge used to connect many nearby villages, but after the cloudburst incident, the bridge was not visible in the morning.”

He told that many children used to go to other villages to study through this bridge. Other villagers also come and go from here. At present, there is no other alternative route here. While making a demand to the administration, the villager said, “We request the government and administration to somehow arrange for a helicopter for the people here.”

At present, seeing the seriousness of the situation, the administration is in alert mode. The Disaster Management Department has sent the rescue team to the spot as soon as the information of the incident was received.
