Amid continuous rains at many places in Uttarakhand, two members of a family went missing after being caught in a landslide in Chamoli district, while many people are feared missing due to cloudburst in Badeth Dungar Tok area in Basukedar tehsil of Rudraprayag district. At the same time, after heavy rains, Alaknanda has been seen in a fierce form. River water has come on the Badrinath Highway between Srinagar and Rudraprayag.
Officials said that it has been raining continuously since late night at many places in Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Tehri districts. He said that some houses came under the grip of landslide due to heavy rains in Mopata village of Dewal area of Tharali tehsil of Chamoli district. Some people are reported missing in Chenagad Dungar village and Jaula Badeth villages due to cloudburst in Badeth Dungar area in Rudraprayag district. Rudraprayag district administration has informed that relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing by the district administration in the affected areas.
All the district level officers are continuously working in coordination with each other in the District Disaster Control Room under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. Various teams of NH, PWD and PMGSY are working to open the route in the affected areas. Relief and rescue teams are being sent to the affected areas by identifying alternative routes. Also, many district level officers along with the concerned revenue inspector and other staff have been sent to the affected villages for immediate action.
Rudraprayag District Magistrate Preetik Jain is constantly in touch with the officials from the disaster control room and action is being taken to deploy district level officers in the affected areas. He has issued necessary guidelines to conduct rescue operations effectively.

On the other hand, the water level of Alaknanda and its tributaries and Mandakini river is continuously increasing due to continuous rain. The flow of Alaknanda river has reached the road between Dhari Devi and Rudraprayag on the Badrinath National Highway. According to Rudraprayag Police, the water level of Alaknanda has reached a place called Goa Bridge, 800 meters ahead of Sirobgadh towards Srinagar Garhwal on the National Highway and in view of safety, the movement of vehicles has been stopped there for the time being. In view of the rising water level of the rivers, the police is alerting the people living on the banks of the river by making announcements.
