According to the police, apart from the driver, all the victims of the accident were residents of Mahendranagar, Nepal and were going to their homes. There were 10 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Eight people were killed and two others were injured when a vehicle fell into a ravine near Betalghat in Nainital district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
The police had to face a lot of difficulty in the rescue work of the accident which took place in a difficult area. It took about two hours to transport the dead bodies to the road. In which local people also helped the police. According to the police, all the bodies were taken out of the ditch after much effort. Two people are also seriously injured in a road accident. Who are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to the information received, 9 Nepali laborers along with the driver had left for Ramnagar. But on the way, the driver lost control and the vehicle fell into a ditch about 200 meters deep. Hearing the sound of the vehicle falling late at night, people nearby rushed towards the spot. Police was informed. The driver is also reported to have died in the accident.
According to information received from SDRF, a vehicle was reported to have fallen into a ditch near Betalghat. It was reported that the vehicle (UK04-CC-0495) was going from Unchakot towards Mahendranagar, Nepal, in which 10 people were traveling. SDRF team reached the spot and descended into a deep gorge about 150 meters below and carried out relief and rescue operation. While conducting a joint rescue operation with the local people and the police, the SDRF team took out the bodies of 08 people who died in the incident and 02 other injured were taken out and sent to the hospital. Except the driver, all the people were residents of Mahendranagar, Nepal.
