The team of police, SDRF and NDRF who reached the information of the incident have started the rescue operation on the spot. Uttarkashi DM Abhishek Ruhela and SP Arpan Yaduvanshi have also reached the spot. The DM said that helicopters have been asked to be kept ready in Dehradun.

A private passenger bus fell into a deep ditch on Sunday evening near Gangotri Highway Gangnani in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. There were 33 pilgrims from Gujarat on board the bus. 8 people died and 27 passengers were injured in this accident. Rescue operation is going on at the spot. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
According to information, the accident took place around 4:15 pm on Sunday. It is being told that the bus was carrying 33 pilgrims from Gangotri Dham to Uttarkashi when the bus went out of control and fell into the ditch. The District Disaster Management Department has confirmed the death of 8 people, while 27 people were injured in the accident. The injured have been sent to the hospital by 108 ambulance.
