Uttarakhand | 5 passengers dead, 2 seriously injured in a helicopter crash

The helicopter full of passengers had taken off from Dehradun for Harshil helipad. It is being reported that the helicopter crashed near Bhagirathi river below the Nag temple ahead of Gangaani.

Five people were killed and two others injured when a helicopter of a private company crashed near Gangani in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Thursday morning. Police gave this information. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed grief over the accident.

According to Uttarkashi Police, the accident took place on the Rishikesh-Gangotri National Highway at 8:45 am.

Police said that a total of seven people including the pilot were on board this helicopter of ‘Aerotrans Services Private Limited’, out of which five died on the spot. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said that the helicopter had left from Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun for Kharsali helipad in Yamunotri, whose pilot was Captain Robin Singh.

According to SDRF, the helicopter crashed after falling into a 200-250 meter deep gorge. According to preliminary information, four people on board the helicopter are said to be from Mumbai and two others from Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister posted on the social media platform ‘X’ and said, “Very sad news has been received about some people being killed in a helicopter crash near Gangani in Uttarkashi. SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the spot for relief and rescue work.” He said, “May God grant the souls of those who died in the accident a place in His feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense grief.” Dhami said, “I have instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the accident. I am constantly in touch with the officials in this regard and every situation is being monitored.”
