उत्तर प्रदेश में ‘हलाल सर्टिफाइड’ वाले खाने और दवाइयों पर योगी ने लगाया बैन
Food products related to Halal certificate have been banned in Uttar Pradesh. An order regarding the ban was also issued on Saturday after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the matter.
According to the order, the manufacturing, storage, distribution and sale of food products with Halal certification is banned with immediate effect. If found manufacturing, storing, distributing and buying and selling Halal certified medicines, medical devices and cosmetics in the state of Uttar Pradesh, strict legal action will be taken against the concerned person/firm.
However, products manufactured for export will not be subject to the restrictions. Recently, the state government was receiving information that Halal certification is being mentioned on the labels of products like dairy products, sugar, bakery products, peppermint oil, salty ready-to-eat beverages and edible oils. Not only this, it has also been reported that Halal certificate has been marked on the packing/labelling of certain medicines, medical devices and cosmetic products.
There is no provision for marking Halal certification on the labels of the products in the government rules related to drugs, medical devices and cosmetics, nor is there any provision for Halal certification in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and related rules. . In such a situation, if any fact related to Halal certification is directly or indirectly mentioned on the label of any medicine, medical device and cosmetic, then it is misrepresentation under the said Act, which is a punishable offence.
Similarly, according to the Act and rules applicable in relation to food items, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, the apex body for food items, has been given the authority to determine the standards of food items, on the basis of which the quality of food items is ensured. Is. Whereas, Halal certification is a parallel system, which creates confusion regarding the quality of food and violates government rules.
An FIR in this regard has also been registered in Lucknow Commissionerate last Friday. According to the FIR, Halal India Private Limited Chennai, Jamiat Ulema Hind Halal Trust Delhi, Halal Council of India Mumbai, Jamiat Ulema Maharashtra Mumbai etc. provided Halal certificates to customers of a particular religion in the name of religion to increase their sales. Illegal business is being run for financial gain.
The complainant has expressed apprehension of a big conspiracy and said that efforts are also being made to reduce the sales of the products of the companies which have not obtained such Halal certificate, which is a criminal act. There is apprehension that this unfair advantage is being passed on to anti-social/anti-national elements.
The complainant alleges that under the guise of religion, unrestrained propaganda is being spread among a particular section of people not to use such a product which has not been given Halal certificate by their company. As a result, the business interests of other communities are being harmed.
