Soil and salt were found mixed in the sacks of food grains given under the free ration scheme for the poor in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. After this, the District Magistrate has given instructions to register an FIR in the matter.
An official statement said on Friday that after receiving complaints of large-scale irregularities in the scheme, District Magistrate Sanjay Chauhan on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection of the fair price ration shop ‘Annapurna Bhawan’ in Jalalpur Tiwari village of Jagdishpur block. During the inspection, food grains and its sacks were examined, in which preliminary investigation found that soil and salt were mixed in the grains.
After the adulteration of salt and soil in the ration came to light, the District Magistrate directed the District Supply Officer and District Food and Marketing Officer to replace the adulterated food grains and give clean food grains in its place.
He has directed to form a team under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) to investigate this matter thoroughly and to take strict action against the culprits by registering a case under relevant sections.
District Information Officer Shiv Darshan Yadav said that earlier a complaint of irregularities in food grains was received in the government ration shop in Darpipur village and after receiving a complaint of irregularities in ration in Jalalpur Tiwari, the District Magistrate conducted a surprise inspection.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate said that the sacks in which such grains are found should be replaced immediately. He instructed the District Supply Officer that if such a complaint comes from anywhere, then immediately go there and replace the grain sacks and provide other clean sacks in its place.
