Once again the health department has been exposed in Uttar Pradesh. A four and a half month pregnant woman gave birth to a child on the roadside outside the Raj Bhavan in the capital Lucknow on Sunday. The child died. It is being told that due to non-availability of an ambulance, the woman was going to the hospital in a rickshaw. After the video of the incident surfaced on social media, the Yogi government has said to take cognizance of it.

Yadav alleged that the incident took place due to non-availability of an ambulance. He said that despite lakhs of advertisements and claims, the state’s health system is on ventilators. A pregnant woman going to the hospital in a rickshaw was forced to deliver on the roadside near Raj Bhavan due to non-availability of an ambulance. This is shameful for the entire system and this is the reality of the health system of the state.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has confirmed the incident. However, he said that I have taken cognizance of the incident and I am going to the spot. The Principal Secretary has told me that the incident took place near Gate No. 13 of Raj Bhavan. The family was going in a rickshaw. The deputy chief minister said the woman chose to take a rickshaw and not an ambulance to go to the hospital, but when some passers-by outside the Raj Bhavan called the ambulance, it arrived in 25 minutes.
After delivering on the road, the child was taken to Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Women and Child Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Later he was buried at Baikunth Dham in Lucknow. A doctor posted in the delivery room of Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Women and Child Hospital said that the woman Roopa Soni was examined at the hospital after the incident.
The doctor said, “Earlier, after experiencing pain, the woman had gone to the Syama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital in Lucknow, where she was administered an injection, but she did not get any relief. After which she was delivered outside the Raj Bhavan on the way. The child was brought here in a dead state.
