Heavy rains and rising rivers have created flood-like conditions in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga and Yamuna rivers are flowing above the danger mark, while the rising waters of the Sasur Khaderi river have made the situation even worse. Residential colonies and roads in many areas of the city are flooded, badly affecting normal life.
In areas like Karela Bagh, people are now resorting to boats to leave their homes. In a video going viral on social media, a man is seen rowing a boat to go to work. He said, “Karela Bagh has been flooded since 8 am. The water of the Sasur Khaderi river has reached here. We are facing a lot of difficulties and on top of that, it is raining continuously.” SDRF teams are rescuing people
SDRF officer Ajit Singh informed, “We are continuously carrying out relief and rescue operations. Currently two boats have been deployed. Children, women and elderly are being taken to safe places on priority basis. We are getting new calls every minute.”
Relief operations are being expedited by the administration. NDRF and SDRF teams are continuously engaged in relief work. Officials said that the coastal areas of both the Ganga and Yamuna rivers have been completely submerged and the water level is increasing further due to continuous rain.
