A leopard hiding in a brick kiln near Baburi village in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh attacked a young man and during this, the young man showed indomitable courage and fought with the leopard and grabbed its neck.

The video of this incident is going viral on social media in which a young man named Mihilal, a resident of Baburi village in Dhaurahra Kotwali area, is seen fighting with the leopard. In the video, the young man is seen holding the leopard’s neck tightly, showing full courage and the villagers are continuously throwing bricks at the leopard to save it. The leopard has also been injured after being hit by the bricks thrown by the villagers to save the young man.

On Tuesday afternoon, Mihilal (35) reached the brick kiln in Baburi village to get the keys, when a four-year-old leopard hiding there suddenly attacked him and tried to drag him to a nearby banana orchard. However, Mihilal showed courage and caught the leopard’s neck and threw it on the ground. The leopard tried to escape from Mihilal’s clutches with its claws, but it was unsuccessful.

He said that on receiving the information, police and forest department employees reached the spot. He said that on hearing the noise, local villagers reached the spot and attacked the leopard with bricks to save the youth. Angry with the attack, the leopard also injured some villagers, a forest guard and a policeman. Police and forest department employees rescued the youth and the leopard.

Dudhwa Buffer Zone Area Deputy Director Saurish Sahay told news agency ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that the villagers informed the forest department officials about the incident, after which the rescue team sedated the leopard and took it to the Dhaurahra Range Headquarters. The people injured in the leopard attack have been admitted to the district hospital where their condition is said to be out of danger. He said that the leopard has been injured in the attack by the villagers. Its condition will be clear after it regains consciousness.

Sahay said that in another incident, a forest department team caught a sick leopard in Jatpurwa village of Shardanagar area a few hours before the Baburi village incident. Passersby saw a shivering sick leopard and informed the forest department. After this, the forest department rescue team reached the spot and took the leopard to the range headquarters. He said that the veterinarian of Dudhwa is doing a physical examination of both the leopards. Further action will be taken after that.
