UP | Horrific Road Accident in Mau, Bus Carrying Devotees Returning from Ayodhya Crashes into Tree; 40 Injured

A horrific road accident occurred in Mau, Uttar Pradesh. Late Saturday night, around 1:30 AM, on the Ratanpura-Mubarakpur road within the Haldharpur police station limits, a bus packed with pilgrims returning to Ballia from Ayodhya lost control and crashed into a tree. Approximately 40 people were injured in the accident, including women, children, and elderly individuals. The impact was so severe that the front section of the bus sustained heavy damage. With the assistance of local residents, the injured were admitted to the Jogapur Community Health Centre (CHC) and the District Hospital in Mau.

According to reports, the pilgrims were returning home to Ballia after participating in the ‘Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mahayagya’ (Grand Ritual), which was held in Ayodhya from March 20 to March 28. The accident occurred during this journey. Following the incident, the scene was filled with cries of distress. Upon hearing the commotion, villagers from the surrounding area rushed to the spot to provide immediate assistance. With the help of locals, the injured were promptly taken to the Jogapur Community Health Centre and subsequently transferred to the District Hospital in Mau, where they are currently undergoing treatment.

Earlier, on March 23, in the Babugarh police station area of ​​Hapur, a Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation bus traveling from Pilibhit to Delhi met with an accident after colliding with an unidentified vehicle. The bus driver died in the accident, while 11 passengers sustained injuries. Based on a written complaint, the police have registered a case against the driver of the unidentified vehicle and have commenced an investigation.

Amit Kumar, the Center In-charge of the Pilibhit Roadways Depot, informed the police that on March 23, 2026, Bus No. UP 78 LN 6325—belonging to the Pilibhit Depot of the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation—was en route from Pilibhit to Delhi. Around 4:00 AM, while passing through the Babugarh police station area, the bus was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The collision was so forceful that the bus lost control and crashed. The bus driver, Mangal Singh, died on the spot as a result of the accident.
