The local MP-MLA court on Tuesday finally declared former MP and actress Jayaprada from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur as ‘absconding’ due to her continuous absence in a case of violation of election code of conduct and the police arrested her and sent her to the court on March 6. Ordered to appear.
In fact, two cases were registered in Rampur against Jayaprada, who was the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, on charges of violation of the code of conduct, which are being heard in the special MP-MLA court of Rampur. But despite several summons, Jaya Prada did not appear in the court.
Senior prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari said that two cases related to violation of the code of conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections were registered against Jai Prada in Camri and Swar police stations. He told that in these cases the special MP-MLA court issued summons several times but the former MP did not appear. According to him, after that, non-bailable warrants were issued against him seven times on different dates but the police could not make him present.
He told that the police, in its reply filed in the court, said that Jaya Prada is protecting herself and all her known mobile numbers are also switched off. Tiwari told that on this, Judge Shobhit Bansal took a tough stance and declared Jai Prada absconding.
