In Ghaziabad, all the women employees (communication officers) of Dial-112 of UP Police have started a strike from Tuesday. Strike has also started in Lucknow and Prayagraj. About 75 thousand phone calls are received daily at all three control rooms. The women workers are demanding that they should be given a salary of Rs 18 thousand along with a new offer letter, only then they will work.
The women workers allege that they have been working continuously at the same salary for the last 5 years. They were assured that their salaries would increase soon but this did not happen and now they are being threatened if they go on strike.
Actually, till now the tender for providing manpower to the control rooms of Dial-112 was with MDSL/Tech Mahindra. After its tenure ended, this tender came to We Win Company from 3rd November. The employees allege that this company has not signed any contract with us and the work is being done without giving new appointment letters.

The protesters said the new company is not giving them an offer letter. Company officials are threatening to ruin their lives. They are saying that if you protest, you will not be able to get a job anywhere. We are receiving threats from all kinds. But we have decided that we will not work until the demand is met.
