News of a major tragedy has emerged from Mathura. Here, a steamer packed with devotees capsized in the Yamuna River. Ten people lost their lives in this accident, while several others remain missing.

News of a major tragedy has emerged from the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. Here in Vrindavan, a steamer packed with devotees capsized in the Yamuna River. Ten people have lost their lives in this accident. Speaking about the incident, Agra DIG Shailesh Pandey stated that the accident occurred at 3:15 PM at Keshi Ghat, located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Shri Banke Bihari Temple. There were between 25 and 27 people on board the boat. The accident took place after the vessel collided with a pontoon bridge. So far, the bodies of 10 victims have been recovered from the site. Teams from the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) are also expected to arrive shortly. Local police, divers, and medical teams are currently present at the scene.
All Victims Hailed from Ludhiana, Punjab
Mathura District Magistrate (DM) Chand Prakash Singh confirmed that 14 people have been rescued so far. Assistance has also been sought from the NDRF and the Army. An NDRF team is currently en route to the site. However, several people are still reported missing, and relief and rescue operations are ongoing to locate them. The devotees involved in the accident are reported to be residents of Ludhiana, Punjab, who had traveled to Vrindavan for darshan (worship).
Steamer Capsizes After Striking Pontoon Bridge
The incident occurred at Keshi Ghat on the Yamuna River. Reports indicate that a steamer, filled with devotees from Punjab, capsized after colliding with a pontoon bridge at this location. Immediately following the accident, teams comprising police personnel and divers launched rescue operations, resulting in the rescue of several individuals who were struggling in the water. Nevertheless, a number of people remain unaccounted for.
