According to the police, miscreants allegedly damaged a finger of the Ambedkar statue installed on the roadside in Rampur Asli village on the Gadwar-Nagara road on Wednesday night.

A statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was allegedly damaged by miscreants in the Gadwar police station area of Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, police said on Friday.
According to police, miscreants allegedly damaged a finger of the Ambedkar statue installed on the roadside in Rampur Asli village on the Gadwar-Nagara road on Wednesday night.
Upon learning of the incident on Thursday, Rasra Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Ravi Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City) Mohammad Usman, along with police and administrative officials, arrived at the scene. Earlier, angry villagers submitted a five-point memorandum to the SDM demanding immediate action against the miscreants, construction of a boundary wall around the statue, and installation of CCTV cameras.
Officials pacified the angry villagers by assuring them of action and persuading them.
Police station in-charge Hitesh Kumar stated on Friday that the damaged statue has been repaired and a CCTV camera has been installed at the scene. He added that the situation is calm and under control.
He said that based on the complaint of villager Raja, a case has been registered against unknown individuals under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Police are investigating the matter and taking necessary legal action.
