In a horrific road accident in Jahangirabad police station area of Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday morning, five members of the same family were burnt alive and a woman was seriously injured. The accident took place near village Janipur on Jahangirabad-Bulandshahr road, when a Swift car went out of control and hit a roadside culvert and caught fire.
According to the police, the accident took place around 5:30 in the morning. Six people in the car were returning to Malviya Nagar in Delhi after attending a wedding ceremony in Chamanpur of Sahaswan police station area of Badaun district. Initial investigation has revealed that due to the driver dozing off, the car went out of control and hit the culvert and overturned. The collision was so strong that fire broke out in the car immediately, which engulfed the entire vehicle in no time.
As soon as the information was received, the Jahangirabad police and fire brigade team reached the spot and started rescue work. After a lot of hard work, the fire was controlled, but by then five people in the car had died of burns. The only survivor of the accident, 28-year-old Gulnaz, was taken out in a critical condition and admitted to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Jahangirabad, where she is undergoing treatment.
Bulandshahr’s SP Rural Dr. Tejveer Singh said that the bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody and the process of Panchayatnama and post-mortem has been started. In the preliminary investigation, the police have considered the negligence of the driver as the main cause of the accident. The matter is being thoroughly investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
Local people said that the accident was so horrific that the car was completely burnt to ashes. People present on the spot tried to rescue, but due to the intensity of the fire, no one could help. This accident has sent a wave of mourning in the area. The relatives of the deceased are inconsolable. The police have started the process of identifying the deceased and informing their families.
