Pritam Kumar said, “There was a huge crowd of passengers in the train from Jaynagar itself. On reaching this railway station, the doors of all the coaches of the train were locked from inside. Despite continuous knocking on the door of the bogie, no one opened the door. When the train got the signal, people got angry and started breaking the glass of the train.”

Angry people broke the glass of the air-conditioned (AC) coach of the Swatantrata Senani Express after they were allegedly unable to board the train at Madhubani railway station in Bihar due to the crowd of passengers going to Maha Kumbh. Police gave this information.
According to a statement issued by Bihar Police, “Information was received about some passengers breaking the glass of the AC coach of Swatantrata Senani Express at Madhubani railway station on the evening of February 10.”
The statement said that on receiving the information, the police immediately reached the railway station where the station superintendent told that the Swatantrata Senani Express stopped at Madhubani railway station while going from Jaynagar to Prayagraj.
It said, “Due to the crowd of passengers in the train, the passengers sitting in an AC coach were not opening the door while some passengers present on the platform had reservation in the same coach. In the course of pushing and running, the glass of some coaches broke. Railway police is taking action in this regard.” According to the statement, the train later left for its destination from Madhubani railway station.
A video of this incident has been made public in which Pritam Kumar, a resident of Rajnagar, who could not board the train at Madhubani railway station despite having a reservation, said, “There was a huge crowd of passengers in the train from Jaynagar itself. On reaching this railway station, the doors of all the coaches of the train were closed from inside. Despite knocking the door of the bogie continuously, no one opened the door. There was no security personnel present at the railway station who could open the closed doors of the coaches. When the train was signaled, people got angry and started breaking the glass of the train.”
Another passenger said, “TTE and Railway Protection Force personnel were present inside the train but they did not open the coach doors.”
Another passenger said in the video that has been made public, “When we went to ask for our money back after not being able to board the train at Madhubani railway station despite having a reservation, the railway police lathicharged us, in which a child’s head was fractured.”
