Municipal elections are being held in Uttarakhand today and the voting process has started from 8 am. Around 30 lakh 29 thousand voters are exercising their franchise across the state. Long queues of voters were seen at the polling stations since morning.

The future of 5405 candidates in a total of 100 municipal bodies will be decided today. These include 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipalities and 46 nagar panchayats. It is expected that the vote percentage of the body may increase this time compared to last time.
Through the elections of Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Nagar Panchayats, citizens will choose representatives of their choice, who will focus on local issues, basic amenities, and development works. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the voters in Dehradun regarding the civic elections.
Despite the cold, voters are reaching to vote since morning. Long queues of people started forming at polling booths from 8 am. Voting is being conducted peacefully in all districts during the Uttarakhand Municipal Corporation elections, and no serious problem has been reported in the voting process. Voting is going on smoothly at every polling booth, and security arrangements have also been fully ensured.

Under this, voting for the Uttarakhand urban body elections will be held on January 23 and counting of votes will be done on January 25.
