Two women killed several injured in stampede during ‘yagya’ in Bihar’s Chhapra

Saran DM Amar Sameer said that this is not any kind of stampede. More than a hundred people simultaneously tried to enter the premises, causing some people to fall and others to crush them. Two of the injured women were taken to hospital, where they died.

A sudden stampede broke out at a religious program in Chhapra city of Bihar on Friday morning, in which two female devotees were killed and many others were injured. However, the district administration has denied that there was a stampede and claimed that the accident occurred due to chaos.

According to the information received, more than a hundred devotees had gathered for ‘Gayatri Yagya’ in a courtyard in Masti Chak area of Chhapra. As soon as the gate of the Yagya venue opened, the devotees gathered outside started carelessly entering inside, causing a stampede there. During this, two women fell and were buried under the crowd.

On receiving information about the incident, the district administration immediately swung into action and several officers along with heavy police force immediately reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation to rescue the victims. During this time, two unconscious women were taken out from there and taken to the hospital where doctors declared them dead.

Saran District Magistrate Amar Sameer said that this is not any kind of stampede. More than a hundred people tried to enter the premises simultaneously. During this scuffle, some of them fell and others crushed them. Two of the injured women were taken to hospital, where they died.
