The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 is being held in India, with eight teams participating. The tournament began on September 30th and is now in its final stages. The 26th match of the tournament is scheduled to be played in Indore on October 25th, in which Australia and South Africa will face each other. A shocking incident has come to light ahead of this match, which has shocked everyone. In Indore, two players from the Australian women’s cricket team were stalked by a young man on a bike, and one of them is also accused of molesting them. Police have arrested the accused.
Bike rider misbehaves
The incident occurred on Thursday morning, October 23, in the Khajrana Road area. According to police, the two players were leaving their hotel and heading to a cafe when a man on a bike began following them. Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi stated that the young man approached one of the players and tried to touch her inappropriately, then fled the scene.
Following the incident, the two players immediately contacted their team’s security officer, Danny Simmons. He coordinated with local security officials and sent a vehicle for assistance. Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra arrived at the scene and recorded the statements of both players. An FIR was subsequently registered at the MIG police station under sections 74 and 78 (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Police arrested the accused
The accused in this case was identified through the alertness of a passerby. He noted down the bike number, based on which the accused, Aqeel Khan, was arrested. According to police, Khan has previous criminal cases registered against him, and the entire incident is under investigation. The incident has raised questions about security in the city, especially at a time when Indore is hosting an international cricket event.
