Pakistan’s Independence Day is being celebrated on 14 August, but on this special occasion, tragic incidents took place in the city of Karachi. 3 people have died in the firing during the Independence Day celebrations, including an 8-year-old girl and a senior citizen. Along with this, more than 60 people have been injured in the firing. Geo News has given this information quoting an official.
Panic due to firing in the whole city
While celebrating Independence, there have been incidents of firing in various areas of Karachi. A girl was shot in Azizabad, while a man named Stephen died of bullet injuries in Korangi. According to Geo News, at least 64 people have been injured in these incidents. Officials have termed these incidents as dangerous, calling them the result of negligence and have appealed to the people to celebrate Independence Day in a safe manner.
Firing took place in these areas
According to the police, incidents of firing have taken place in major areas of Karachi, including Liaquatabad, Korangi, Lyari, Mahmoodabad, Akhtar Colony, Kemari, Jackson, Baldia, Orangi Town and Paposh Nagar.
Additionally, bullets have also been fired in areas like Sharifabad, Nazamabad, Surjani Town, Zaman Town and Landhi. Such incidents are seen every year on Independence Day in Pakistan. Similar incidents of violence were also reported in 2024, in which a child was killed and more than 95 people were injured.
The police have started investigating these firing incidents and assured that strict action will be taken against the persons involved in the aerial firing. According to ARY News, police officials have attributed reasons such as differences, personal enmity and attempted robbery behind these incidents. Earlier, in January 2024, 42 people were killed, including 5 women, and 233 people were injured in a shooting in Karachi.
These incidents are a matter of concern for the security and law and order situation in Karachi, and the administration is being appealed to ensure the safety of the people.
