After China, now India has taken a big action against Turkey. The Government of India has banned the social media account of Turkey’s state-run TV channel TRT World in India. This action has been taken to stop the sharing and dissemination of misinformation regarding the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan and regional security.
Verify facts before spreading misinformation: Indian Embassy
Earlier, India has blocked the social media handle of China’s newspaper Global Times. Recently, Global Times published a report stating that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) had shot down an Indian fighter jet. The report cited “unknown sources of the Pakistani army”. India rejected this claim outright and called it false news.
The official X account of the Indian Embassy in Beijing posted tagging the Global Times, “Dear @globaltimesnews, please verify facts and check your sources before spreading such misinformation.” The second post said, “Many pro-Pakistan social media accounts are making false claims about Operation Sindoor. When the media propagates such things without verification, it is a violation of journalistic ethics.”
