Dehradun: Amid the ongoing tension with Pakistan, the Uttarakhand government has directed all hospitals in the state to remain on high alert. Leaves of doctors and staff in hospitals have been cancelled. Following the instructions of the Union Health Ministry, Uttarakhand Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar has issued necessary guidelines and directed the state to mark 12,000 beds in all hospitals and keep all ICUs and ventilators ready.
In view of India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the borders of Nepal and China adjoining Uttarakhand are also on alert. After midnight, Indian Army aircraft continued to fly over the skies of Doon. Hearing the loud sound of Indian Air Force planes, people became curious to look at the sky late at night. Meanwhile, sources have confirmed to ANI that the Indian Army shot down over 50 Pakistani drones during a massive counter-drone operation along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) on Thursday night. The operation was launched after Pakistan made unsuccessful attempts to send multiple swarm drones into Indian territory at various locations.Indian Army air defence units responded swiftly and targeted the drones in areas including Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota and Pathankot.
“Last night, when Pakistan made unsuccessful attempts to send swarm drones into various locations along the LoC and IB, over 50 drones were successfully neutralised during a massive counter-drone operation carried out by Indian Army air defence units in Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota and Pathankot areas,” sources told ANI.
The Army used multiple air defence systems and weapons to destroy the drones. Sources said, “The operation involved extensive use of L-70 guns, Zu-23mm, Shilka systems and other advanced counter-UAS equipment, demonstrating the army’s strong capability to counter aerial threats.” Following the incident, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on X, “I am going to Jammu now to take stock of the situation after the failed Pakistani drone attack on Jammu city and other parts of the division last night.”
Residents also reported a tense night near the border. A resident told ANI, “There was a complete blackout last night. After which drones started flying and firing continued throughout the night. Our army is giving a befitting reply to Pakistan. We have faith in our Prime Minister and our army. All drones were neutralized by our army. We are proud of our country. There is tension near the border, but rest of the places are safe.” Another local told ANI, “Last night around 8 pm, we saw 3-4 drones. There was retaliatory firing, which continued throughout the night. What Pakistan did is not right. We are not scared. Schools are closed here.” Indian armed forces successfully foiled the drone attack targeting civilian areas. No casualties have been reported yet. (ANI)
