लोकसभा चुनाव से पहले मोदी सरकार का बड़ा दांव, नागरिकता संशोधन कानून लागू किया, नोटिफिकेशन जारी
New Delhi: Before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, the Narendra Modi government at the Center can make a big move. Sources are claiming that the Home Ministry may issue a notification of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) late tonight. Let us tell you that the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was passed in 2019 to give fast citizenship to undocumented non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. After its passing, there were protests across the country. Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh movement had attracted the attention of the whole world.
Who will get citizenship under the rules?
Under the new CAA laws, the Modi government will start granting Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants – Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians – who came from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan till December 31, 2014. It is noteworthy that CAA was passed in December 2019 and it got the approval of the President. However, the law has not yet been implemented and rules are necessary for its implementation. The Home Ministry has prepared a portal for the convenience of the applicants and the entire process will be online. Applicants will have to declare the year in which they came to India without travel documents, an official said. No documents will be asked from the applicants. According to the law, undocumented minorities from the three neighboring countries will get benefits under CAA.
CAA is the law of the country, opposition is misleading people – Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said on December 27 that no one can stop the implementation of CAA as it is the law of the country. He accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of misleading people on this issue. While addressing a BJP meeting in Kolkata, Shah had said that implementing CAA is the party’s commitment.
