Karnataka Police has registered an FIR against Aaj Tak anchor Sudhir Chaudhary. Choudhary is accused of conspiring against ‘communal harmony’ during a program on a news channel.
A case has been registered against Choudhary under several sections of the Indian Penal Code i.e. IPC for inciting enmity between groups.
An official of the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation had filed a complaint against Chaudhary. Allegations are being made that the journalist, who was hosting a show on the news channel Aaj Tak, was talking about the Commercial Vehicle Subsidy Scheme. According to the FIR, he allegedly claimed that in Karnataka, only minorities are getting subsidy and not Hindus.
An FIR has been registered against a journalist from Seshadripuram in the capital Bengaluru. According to a media report, the FIR states, ‘It was claimed in the show that injustice has been done to poor Hindus in the state under the scheme.’ Chaudhary is the first accused in this case. At the same time, the police have also made the chief editor and organizer of Aaj Tak an accused.
