In Kashipur, Uttarakhand, a class 9 student shot a teacher with a pistol in Shri Gurunanak Senior Secondary School. The teacher, who was seriously injured after being shot below the right shoulder, has been admitted to a private hospital.
According to the police, two days ago the teacher scolded the student for not answering a question. It has been learned that the accused student had brought the pistol to school in the lunch box.
On Wednesday, teacher Gagandeep Singh Kohli arrived at 9.45 am to take a physics class at Shri Gurunanak Senior Secondary School on Kundeshwari Road. After the recess, he started coming out of the class room, when a student from behind took out a pistol from the tiffin box and fired at him. The student tried to run away but the teachers caught him. The injured teacher was taken to a private hospital. ASP Abhay Singh said that a case has been registered against the minor accused on the complaint of the teacher. He has been taken under police protection.
Bullet removed after three hours of operation
The bullet was removed from the teacher admitted in a private hospital after three hours of operation. The hospital surgeon Dr. Mayank Agarwal said that the bullet was stuck near the spine on the neck. Which has been removed. The injured teacher has been kept in the ICU. The condition will be known only after 72 hours.
Teacher had slapped him two days ago
Two days ago, a minor student of class 9, out of resentment for the slap, shot the teacher with a pistol and then became silent. However, the student told the entire incident. The class 9 student, resident of Kundeshwari Chowki area, has been studying in Sri Gurunanak Senior Secondary School located on Kundeshwari Road since the beginning. The student alleged that on Monday, teacher Gagandeep Singh Kohli asked him a question during the physics class. He said that he also answered, but the teacher slapped him. Which he could not tolerate.
The incident was carried out during the interval
On Wednesday, he brought a pistol from home in a tiffin bag. Gagandeep Singh came to take the class in the fourth period. As soon as the class ended, the interval bell rang at around 10.30. As soon as the bell rang, some students also left the class. Meanwhile, the accused student took out the pistol from the tiffin and fired at the teacher from behind.
The pistol was in the house
During police interrogation, the student had told that the pistol was kept in the cupboard of the house and he took it out of the cupboard and kept it in the tiffin and brought it to school. After the incident, the father of the accused student also absconded, but later he returned. The police is also interrogating the father of the accused as to how the pistol came in the house.
According to the police, the father of the accused student who shot the teacher is a farmer. It is being told that the accused student is the youngest among two sisters and a brother. The elder sister is married. While one sister has gone to Canada after completing intermediate. Kundeshwari Chowki Incharge Chandan Singh Bisht said that a case of attempt to murder and road accident was registered against the accused’s father many years ago. There is no case against the accused student’s father for the last several years. At present, the accused student had not had any quarrel.
Forensic team collected evidence, pistol recovered
After the incident, on information, the forensic team reached the school and inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. The team took the accused student along and investigated the crime scene and collected evidence. The team also recovered a 315 bore pistol and a shell used in the incident. Which was taken into custody by the police. The police has started investigating the whole matter.
Teacher posted in school for 15 years
Teacher Gagandeep Kohli has been posted in the school for more than 15 years. No complaint has been received till date. At the same time, the accused student has also been studying in the school since the beginning. Principal VK Malik said that no complaint of the student has come to him yet.
More than 35 children were in the class, there was a stampede
41 children are studying in the class where the incident took place. On Wednesday, at the time of the incident, there were about 35 children in the class. Some of them came out of the class when the interval bell rang. Some children were also inside. As soon as the accused student sitting in the fourth row of the class fired a bullet and the sound came, the students sitting inside the class sat down in fear. On hearing the sound of the bullet inside the school, there was panic among other students and teachers. Later the students were sent back.
Private schools will remain closed today in US Nagar district
All CBSE and recognized private schools of the district will remain closed on Thursday in protest against the shooting of the teacher. This decision has been taken in the meeting of Udham Singh Nagar Independent School Association. Teachers will observe Black Day in protest against the incident. On Wednesday, a meeting of the association was held in a private school located on Kundeshwari Road. In which the incident of a student shooting a teacher was condemned. District convenor of the association Rahul Pagia said that CBSE and private recognized schools of the district will remain closed on Thursday in protest against the incident. This decision has been taken in the meeting. Apart from this, a silent march will be taken out from Kashipur Ramlila Maidan to SDM office. Where a memorandum will be given to the SDM regarding the security of teachers and other demands. Here the district president of the association Naib Singh Dhaliwal has also condemned the incident. District General Secretary Manoj Kheda, District Convenor Rahul Pagia etc. were present.
