Situation is normal from J-K to Punjab, Rajasthan; appeal to be cautious of fake news

The situation in the border areas adjoining Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan is normal after the ceasefire was declared between India and Pakistan. The situation remained peaceful in Poonch, Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir and Barmer in Rajasthan on Sunday morning. There is no news of drone activity, firing or shelling during this time.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir government has issued a public advisory on Sunday, urging citizens to remain calm and avoid false claims being circulated on social media.

The Jammu and Kashmir government said on its official X account that it appreciates the resilience and trust of its citizens. The government is taking all necessary steps and is fully prepared to deal with any situation. There is no need to panic.

Meanwhile, in view of the growing threat of misinformation, the Ministry of Defense asked citizens to be cautious of fake news spreading on WhatsApp and trust only reliable sources. The ministry advised people to follow its official WhatsApp channel.

“A lot of misinformation and fake news is being circulated on WhatsApp during these sensitive times. Remain alert and follow our WhatsApp channel for accurate information related to the Ministry of Defence,” the Defence Ministry wrote on Twitter.

The Jammu and Kashmir government said people should follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and other government agencies.

“Misinformation and unverified claims circulating on social media may create unnecessary panic. People are requested not to fall prey to rumours and spread them. Trust only credible news channels and government messages,” the government said.
