Local train services on the main corridor of Central Railway were disrupted due to signal failure in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Monday. The officers provided this information.
A Central Railway spokesperson said that train services operating in suburban areas on all railway lines in Thane were disrupted due to some technical reasons at 9.16 am.
“Local train services between Kalyan (in Thane) and Kurla (in Mumbai) were affected due to signal failure on all lines in Thane,” the spokesperson said. According to passengers, trains were halted on both sides of Thane station due to the problem. There was a queue.
A Central Railway spokesperson said the signal system was restored at 10.15 am, after which trains started running smoothly on all lines.
The suburban network of Central Railway’s main route trains extends from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in South Mumbai to Kalyan (in Thane district) and Khopoli (in Raigarh). Lakhs of passengers travel on these routes every day.
