The person who threatened to kill Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has been arrested from Ghaziabad by a team of North-West District Special Staff of Delhi Police.

A team of the North-West District Special Staff of Delhi Police has arrested the man who threatened to kill Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The accused was arrested from Ghaziabad after a quick investigation following a threat call late Thursday night. According to police officials, the threat call was made to the Ghaziabad Police Control Room (PCR) when the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Soon after receiving the threat, the Delhi Police Control Room was informed. The case was worked upon seriously as it was a high-profile one. Investigators identified the caller and traced his location, but by the time officers reached the source, the suspect had switched off his mobile phone. After an intense search, the Special Staff managed to arrest him from a hideout in Ghaziabad.
Initial interrogation revealed that the accused Shlok Tripathi is a law graduate (LLB) who is not happy with his married life. His wife had recently left him, leaving him emotionally upset. Before issuing the death threat, he made another call demanding to speak to his wife, police said. Interestingly, the accused was found carrying fake identity cards which appeared to be police certificates, raising suspicion that he may have tried to pass himself off as a law enforcement personnel.
During questioning, he repeatedly tried to mislead the police, officials said. “On the directions of the Home Ministry, security agencies carry out threat assessment on VIPs or VVIPs,” a senior Delhi Police official said. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta enjoys Z category security as per standard protocol. Police are continuing their investigation to find out if the accused has any prior criminal history or if he has any links with other subversive activities. Police have also launched a separate probe into the use of the fake police identity card found in his possession.
