The Election Commission on Tuesday gave a blow to Sharad Pawar faction and termed Ajit faction as the real NCP. The Commission had said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind all the evidence. The Commission also gave Ajit Pawar faction the right to use the election symbol of NCP.

After Ajit Pawar faction was declared the real NCP a day ago, Sharad Pawar faction has got a new name of the party from the Election Commission. The new name of Sharad Pawar faction’s party will be ‘NCP Sharad Chandra Pawar’ and his faction will contest the upcoming elections with the same name. With this, there is every possibility that political turmoil will intensify in Maharashtra.
After snatching the command of NCP on Tuesday, Sharad Pawar faction had today submitted its three options for the name and election symbol of the new party to the Election Commission shortly before 4 pm. The Commission had given deadline till Wednesday evening to the Sharad Pawar faction to suggest their options for deciding the name and symbol of the new party.
Now the news is that the Election Commission has approved ‘NCP Sharad Chandra Pawar’ for the party of Sharad Pawar faction. According to sources, the Sharad Pawar faction had proposed adopting a cup of tea along with sunflower and rising sun as election symbols. At the same time, Sharad Pawar had suggested three options as the name of the new party, namely Sharad Pawar Congress, Mi Nationalist and Sharad Swabhimani Paksha.

Let us tell you that last year, while rebelling against Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar had torn NCP in two and joined the BJP-Eknath Shinde government of Maharashtra. Many NCP MLAs also went with Ajit. After this, Ajit also claimed control over the party and called his faction the real NCP. The Assembly Speaker had declared Ajit faction as the real NCP. Sharad Pawar faction has challenged this decision in the Supreme Court. Now the Election Commission has also declared Ajit’s group as the real NCP.
