Amidst the rumors circulating regarding a shortage of petrol, diesel, and LPG in the country, oil companies have clarified that the situation is completely normal and there is absolutely no shortage of fuel anywhere.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited stated in a social media post that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel. Rumors spreading online could trigger unnecessary anxiety and disrupt normal supply patterns. IndianOil outlets are fully stocked and are operating at full capacity.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) posted on the social media platform ‘X’, appealing to citizens to disregard the rumors. The company explicitly stated that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the country; adequate stocks are available, and the supply chain is operating smoothly without any disruptions. Bharat Petroleum also noted that India is a net exporter of petrol and diesel, and substantial reserves of crude oil, petrol, diesel, and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) are currently available.

BPCL urged the public not to crowd petrol pumps in a panic and to place their trust only in official sources. BPCL also gave assurances that it remains fully committed to ensuring an uninterrupted fuel supply.

Similarly, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) issued a statement on social media affirming that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG across the country.

The company advised customers not to be misled by rumors and to continue using fuel as they normally would. HPCL provided assurances that its network is fully operational to ensure an uninterrupted supply. Meanwhile, clarifying the situation, the government stated that all refineries in the country are operating at high capacity and that adequate fuel stocks are available. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, informed on Tuesday that 18,700 tonnes of commercial LPG have already been supplied across the country, and over 100,000 petrol pumps are operating normally.

She further noted that the expansion of PNG connections is also proceeding rapidly, with 7,500 new domestic and commercial connections being provided in a single day alone. The government is continuously working on identifying new sources to further bolster LPG supply, thereby ensuring that no shortages of any kind occur.

The government also highlighted that strict action is being taken nationwide to curb the hoarding and black-marketing of LPG. To date, 642 FIRs have been registered, and 155 individuals have been arrested. In the last 24 hours alone, approximately 3,400 raids were conducted, resulting in the seizure of nearly 1,000 cylinders.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum, all retail outlets across the country are functioning normally, and fuel supply remains completely stable.
