On Thursday, the Supreme Court gave a big blow to former Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma. The court has rejected his petition, considering it not fit for hearing. In fact, Justice Verma had filed a petition demanding that the report of the inquiry committee constituted in the case of burnt cash found from his residence be declared invalid. Along with this, he had also challenged the recommendation sent by the then Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Sanjeev Khanna to remove President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from their posts.
During the hearing, Supreme Court Justice Dipankar Dutta clarified that the court has accepted that the fundamental rights of the petitioner were not violated by this entire process. The court said that the Chief Justice and the inquiry committee had followed all aspects of the process, including uploading photos and videos, with full honesty.
However, the Supreme Court also admitted that uploading the video was not a correct decision, but no legal decision was taken on it, because this step was not challenged in time. The court also said that there was no need to upload the video, but since the issue was not raised at that time, it cannot be considered now.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had rejected Nedumpara’s petitions seeking an inquiry into the seizure of cash in March and criminal action against Justice Verma in May.
Let us tell you that this controversy started when burnt notes were found outside Justice Verma’s New Delhi residence on March 14. This incident created a stir in judicial circles. After this, Justice Verma was sent from Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court and an internal committee was formed to investigate the allegations.
