Rs 1 Lakh Loan Balloons To Rs 74 Lakh, Maharashtra Farmer Sells Kidney

You’ve likely heard about the plight of farmers in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region before. This area frequently sees reports of farmer suicides. But the story that has now emerged is even more shocking. A 36-year-old farmer there was forced to sell his kidney to repay his debts.

1 लाख का कर्ज, साहूकार ने सूद मिलकर बनाया 74 लाख, चूका नहीं पाया किसान तो निकाल ली किडनी

A shocking incident that shames humanity has emerged from Chandrapur district in Maharashtra, where a farmer, burdened by debt, was forced to sell his kidney to repay moneylenders. This horrific case comes from Minthur village in Nagbhid tehsil of Chandrapur district. Roshan Sadashiv Kude, a farmer from Minthur, owned four acres of agricultural land, which was the sole source of income for his family. Due to continuous losses in farming, he decided to start a dairy business. For this, he borrowed 1 lakh rupees from various moneylenders. Unfortunately, fate was not on his side; the cows he bought died, and his crops failed, leading him into a debt trap.

1 lakh rupee loan and 10,000 rupees daily interest

The moneylenders were so ruthless that they started harassing him at his home. To repay the debt, Roshan sold 2 acres of his land, his tractor, and all his valuable household items. Shockingly, the principal amount of 1 lakh rupees ballooned to 74 lakh rupees. It is alleged that the moneylenders were charging an interest of 10,000 rupees per day on the 1 lakh rupee loan.

Moneylenders sent the farmer to Cambodia and sold his kidney

When everything was sold and the debt still remained, a moneylender advised Roshan to sell his kidney. Through an agent, Roshan was first taken to Kolkata for medical tests. He was then taken to Cambodia, where his kidney was surgically removed. The kidney was sold for 8 lakh rupees, but the moneylenders’ greed remained insatiable.

Complaint filed with the police, but no action taken

The victimized farmer alleges that he filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, but no concrete action was taken by the administration. Roshan Kude says that if the police had acted in time, he would not have had to endure this physical and mental agony.

Even after selling his kidney, the mountain of debt remains

Even after selling his kidney, the moneylenders’ demands did not stop. The mountain of debt still looms large, and Roshan has nothing left to lose. In desperation, the farmer has warned that if he does not receive justice, he will self-immolate along with his entire family in front of the ministry.

Names of the moneylenders:

According to the victimized farmer, the moneylenders who are harassing him are Kishore Bawankule, Manish Kalbande, Laxman Urkude, Pradeep Bawankule, Sanjay Ballarpure, and Laxman Borkar. All these moneylenders are residents of Brahmapuri town. Now it remains to be seen what happens next in this case that shames humanity.
