Air India and Indigo flights affected
According to the news, Air India and Indigo said on Thursday that some of its international flights have been affected due to the closure of Pakistan’s airspace. Tata Group-owned airline Air India said that its flights connecting North America, UK, Europe and the Middle East are likely to go through an alternative extended route. Apart from Indigo and Air India, Air India Express and SpiceJet also operate internationally.
Will have to go over the Arabian Sea
According to senior airline officials and pilots, these flights will have to take alternative routes which will be longer over the Arabian Sea. Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack, Pakistan on Thursday said it will bar Indian airlines from using its airspace. In a post on social media platform X, Air India said that due to the announcement of a ban on Pakistan’s airspace for all Indian airlines, it is expected that some of the Air India flights to or from North America, the UK, Europe and the Middle East will be diverted via alternate extended routes.

The airline said that Air India regrets the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unexpected airspace closure which is beyond our control. We would like to reiterate that at Air India, the safety of our customers and crew is the highest priority. IndiGo said that some of our international flights are being affected due to the sudden announcement of the airspace closure by Pakistan. The airline said in a post on X that we understand that this may cause inconvenience and our teams are trying their best to help you reach your destination as soon as possible.
