The Bihar Cricket Association has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26. 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been appointed vice-captain, while the team’s leadership has been handed over to the experienced Saqibul Gani. Becoming the vice-captain of the senior Ranji team at such a young age is a significant achievement for Vaibhav.
After shining in the IPL, now it’s Ranji’s turn
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already made headlines with his explosive batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He set the record for the fastest Indian century in IPL history, scoring the fastest century in just 35 balls. He is only surpassed on this list by Chris Gayle (century in 30 balls). Playing for the Rajasthan Royals, he scored 252 runs in seven matches at an average of 36, including a century and a half-century.
Excellent performance at the international Under-19 level
Vaibhav also played brilliant innings against England and Australia at the Under-19 level. He scored 143 runs in the Youth ODI and 113 runs against Australia in the Youth Test. These performances have helped him rapidly rise in domestic cricket.
